What is Christmas truly about?

The Realization Of Christmas

In my opinion, when it all comes down to Christmas, when you remove the gifts, the malls full of people, the money spent, the pretty decorated trees as well as lights you're left with a family and friends. Without a family or someone who loves and cares for you unconditionally, Christmas just wouldn't be the same. Christmas is about being thankful for what you have, rather than asking for more. Of course for the younger ones, Santa Clause seems to be the main excitement in their eyes, which is understandable considering they haven't quite learned the true meaning of Christmas yet. Christmas is about coming together as a whole, having family bonding time, seeing smiling faces, taking beautiful photos for memories, eating delicious homemade food that you've been looking forward to since last Christmas. Of course the main reason we celebrate Christmas is because some traditions go by believing Mary, mother of Jesus, was told she was going to have a very special baby on December 25th which then became Jesus' birthday. People also consider Jesus the light of the world, so we take time to celebrate that as well during the Christmas time. In conclusion, Christmas shouldn't be about the gifts, the money or behaving just to avoid getting coal from Santa, because the excitement of gifts only lasts so long, but family and the love from each and every important factor in your life, should last forever. 

The Journalist Who Lied

In my opinion if a journalist tells lies, the consequence for him\her should be not being able to publish there work, sure they can write as much as they like, but until its from a truthful source, they should not be able to make money off of lies. If fined, the right way to return the money would be to individually deliver a check to each buyer of the book, because no one would want to pay for untruthful work. They should fine both the author and the company who is adding additions as well as making the published possible because basically authors who do this are stealing. I definitely do not think sending the lying author off to prison is right, I think that would be a bit too extreme. Yes, they are stealing from us but they still put time and clearly a lot of brains into the thinking behind the story. I definitely do not think they should be able to profit from movie or book deals because they are doing something completely and utterly wrong so why on earth should anyone reward them? They are putting a false front up to the world and that most definitely is not acceptable.

Hidden,

an identity of thistles,

I reveal my goals in glimpses,

am granted part-time acceptance

only when no one is looking.

Shielded,

they huddle close 

to each other, talking

shop, chanting

confirmation of every male

rite. Male-chad, afraid, as if

I hide some terrible weapons 

of woman's knowings,

as if we fight some war

only one of us can remember

A right to vote

In my opinion, I think the age restrictions on voting, should be kept as is it. I say this because at age sixteen we are so caught up in our own lives, our own problems and our own projects. How could we make a logical decision on who should be in charge and responsible toward what goes on throughout our city, when sometimes we even find it hard to control ourselves. At this age people would be more caught up in voting for the better looking candidate, or the candidate who intends to legalize marijuana. We, for the most part would only be looking out for ourselves as appose to looking out for our community as a whole. I am not saying each and every person below the age of eighteen should not be aloud to vote, because of course there are some people who are intelligent and reliable enough to vote, but over all I would disagree with allowing sixteen and older to vote. Yes, I know we are legal to drive, but do I agree with that? Definitely not. 

Is education key?

In my opinion, education is not the key in life but instead is simply just average. Yes, education can provide you with high grades, as well as your name on the honour roll and potentially far down the line, a beautiful home to live in with the one you love... but it is far from key. An education allows you to learn all about maths and sciences as well as how to speak and write proper English, to then eventually become what ever it is you "desire". Desires built from an education, to me is just average and familiar. I'd say many people are mainly striving to become what they desire because of the money that will come along with it, but aren't considering their true passions. Yes an education will likely get you further in life, but I can promise you will not have as much fun doing it, and in my opinion EDUCATION is not key, but a life of HAPPINESS is.

Importance of Writing

My goal as well intentions in this course are to tremendously improve my vocabulary as well as story telling. I am striving to, by the end of this course be able to think outside the box as well as think more in depth about the ideas presented each day. I love to write, and I hope to get a high mark in this course and lastly plan to leave with a more creative mind. 

In my opinion, I think having the skills of writing could provide me with many job opportunities all the way from a journalist to an author. Writing skills can also teach you to be more articulate in every situation. I think everyone should practice their writing skills because you can only benefit from the practice of writing.
